An online journal with photos and quotations (Emerson, Thoreau and others); blogging about cats, dogs, assorted wildlife, flowers, plants, food, etc. Although inspired by Thoreau's "Walden," this blog focuses primarily on the feral/domesticated cats and other creatures, visitors and inhabitants, found within Godot's Little Green Acre present-day mountain home, surrounded by trees--but, alas, there is no pond.
I used to see those a lot when I lived in a mobile home on my parents' farm. We have a red-bellied woodpecker coming to the birdfeeder in our front yard right now.
ReplyDeleteI like woodpeckers of all varieties. A few years ago, I thought a couple of pileated woodpeckers were going to make a nest inside one of my trees but, apparently, they used it as a decoy tree. Rebel and I would walk up to the tree while the birds were working on it, and they would respond, probably saying, "Can't you see we're busy?"
